I have a female calico who is 2 and 3 boys who are 3, 2, and 2. I enjoy my boys more then my girl because they are soo laid back. They are also all fixed, on the other hand I have a female who loves only me, hate the youngest boys, and adores the alpha male of the household. I was wondering which do you prefer from personal experience. I would choose Male over female.

I love all my cats and they are all goofy, but my boys are more lap cat then she is. She enjoys being alone by herself and the boys love the company of one another and me. Its odd, my cats act more like dogs then cats.

Females generally seem to be a little more snooty! They will pick one person in the family and bond. The females will allow the other humans and male cats to survive but on her terms! The males eat, sleep, hunt, get attention, sleep, get more attention, then they get petted, They go for a walk, eat, get attention, get their faces slapped by the female for crossing her path. Sit on your lap, sleep in your bed, cross the female again then make a mental note to get the female while she is sleeping. male or female depends on the humans personality. I like both just for the entertainment factor.

I have had 14 cats over the years mostly females. I prefer males, have one that is so smart, he knows how to get the paper to pop up out of a fax machine. I would just say "Felix do you want a fax" and he jumps up and pushes the button. One day he pushed the speaker phone button and then redial and called a friend of mine in the middle of the night. Hard to convince the person that the cat did it and not me LOL.

Until a year ago I would say my boys are more affectionate than my girl and they were my favorite. Than a little female polydactl came into my life and she is the biggest love bug I've ever owned. Logan (a pedigree Abysinnian) and Deuce (polydactl) are now my favorites. Tucker, my other boy, was a feral when I adopted him so he takes a long time to warm up to someone. He really loves my husband though. Hemingway my first polydactl girl was brain injured as a kitten, so she's very uncat like. Tucker, Deuce, and Hemingway are all rescues and Logan helped take care of them when my husband was in Iraq... They are a little spoiled. I think it really depends on his/her upbringing and personality.

I've never had a male cat. I had a Persian cat who lived to be 21 years old, and a Calico who lived to be 18. The Calico was raised and nursed by our German Shepherd. I adored both of them.

I have always prefered female animals. They are more easy going, less defensive, less territorial, less likely to spray due to opposite sex, are smaller in size when full grown.
Plus females are normally more of the lap cat, hug, sleep with you type cat where a male just wants to left alone but in the same room with you.

It doesn't matter if they are spayed or neutered, they have their own personality. Males are my favorite, and I never had one spray either. Females are more vocal, less likely to be loving, more aloof, as some women, so I call female cats, b*tch's.
This has been my experience with cats.

My males are always more affectionate, and they are cheaper to neuter, but they are more likely to spray and have urinary tract problems, or be teritorial. My female is more loyal to me, and is my baby girl who is just the sweetest to me, but she was more expensive to spay and is not friendly to everyone like my male who loves even the dog.
Overall I prefer female cats and dogs.
