As a Vet Asst., I think the best way is to ignore his bad behavior. When he barks, put him in a room where he can't get to you or go to a room where he can't reach you. Eventually, if you are consistant, he will realize that he won't get rewarded for his antics. Yes...any kind of attention to a pet is a reward. They live for affection from you and if they don't get it, it bothers them. It might take awhile, but he will learn. You can also use a clicker to train him. In between barks when he is silent, you click the clicker and give him a small treat. He will catch on pretty quick. It's a method that works wonders and works pretty fast too. I don't think shock collars are the best answer. I could never shock my beloved dogs. That would be like shocking my children. But it is your decision. Good luck!

Definitely make sure he gets plenty of exercise and when you know he is tired and you have better control, tease him with some of the things he likes to bark at the most. Make sure you have his favorite treat on hand and when he barks show him his treat and give him a No command after he focuses on the treat and quites down give it to him. Keep doing this frequently until he listings to you on the first command. then gradually take the treat away and sooner then you would expect, he will no longer bark as often and if he does then you have an immediate command to shut him up. I have a boxer and I trained him since he was a pups so I never had this problem myself but I did this to a couple of friends dogs that had that same problem and it worked like a charm. Just don't expect him to change over night. You have to be patient.

For that level of barking i might are trying a bark collar. If a bark collar does not work I've heard of folks having their canine's bark "softened." this is a surgical procedure that just some vets do. Despite the fact that i'm not too familar with it, I've heard this surgery is pricey and fairly controversial so it could be a last inn type of option. ********replace!!! I just purchased a bark collar at Walmart for my little "barker" final night, and WOW did she stop barking!!! It simply took one little jolt and the leisure of the night she was quiet as might be. I have not put it again on today, but i'm going to generally do it quickly. I've been advised within every week or two she will have to be finished with any extra barking. After that they advocated I simply tighten the typical collar so it *feels* like a bark collar. This unique canine is a rescued "foster canine" who has had numerous problems. Nevertheless it looks as if the more matters we work on and "fix" the simpler she gets. Heck, I simply would maintain her!!! She's fitting a great canine! :) BTW, Walmart additionally had a product to stop outdoor barking. It's a birdhouse that you just simply hold up external, and if barking it occurs it automatically offers off the sound dogs do not like.

"No bark" collars can be the best option. Whenever your dog barks the collar will produce a sound especially annoying to him -- but completely out of your range of hearing. He'll quickly associate the bad sound with barking and you can sleep through the night.

there is nothing you can do..other than try to train him/her to react differently. my dog barks at any loud noise, so we trained her to be more relaxed around loud noises by running a vacuum by her until she calmed down and forgot about it. just different things like that to get her used to loud noises.
and by all means...DO NOT BUY A SHOCK COLLAR. that's cruelty. do you love your dog? then don't shock him/her every time it talks. think about how much you would like to be zapped after every word you said?

your dog barks when he feel some is nearby as sign of joy, dog barks when they see or feel somebody is coming and they don't have this familiar smell, they barks when they see a cat around or sometimes dogs as well... they are also annoyed by the enviroment around them.... try relocating your dog's house... with my jack russell it barks when he see a car or mouse so what i did i put him in place where the cats don't pass by.. my pitbull barks when they see cats as well as other dogs so i did relocate them as well...

there are these collars you can buy them and it bivrates (i guess) or stings them everytime they bark hard, and so they get used to not barking loud because it will hurt a little and they will get used to it.
