doogie toothbrush and dental bones, not really a daily thing, just give the bones everyday, it will help

Hard kibble is better for a dog's teeth than soft food. The safest thing to give a dog to clean it's teeth is a raw bone. Don't do the greenies as someone suggested as there's been far too many cases of dogs becoming impacted or damaging their tracheas. I know of someone who has a dog that's hanging on for it's life and her vet bill is enormous due to a greenie. There's nothing better than having your dog's teeth profesionally cleaned and then being fastidious about keeping their teeth clean after. Easier said than done. In many cases, bad teeth are inherited genetically and you'll see more problems in certain breeds. Some breeds really should have their teeth cleaned daily using either a regular dog toothbrush or one of those rubber brushes that you put on your finger. Of course, you only use toothpast that's made specifically for dogs. Doing their teeth once a day would be good, but even once per week is better than nothing. Get your dog use to it gradually and reward them and don't make it a negative experience or you're defeating any future attempts. Baby steps. Giving your dog things like carrots and apple slices is not only good for them, bet helps to remove plaque from the gum line and they massage the gums. You've just reminded me to get busy and brush my dog's teeth more often.

Are you feeding it dry food? Soft food may seem more tasty but isn't always good for your dog's teeth. Dry food is abrasive and can clean the teeth -- even around the gum line. Hard chew toys can also help. There's really no need to stick a toothbrush in your dog's mouth unless its teeth are especially unhealthy. Even some well-mannered dogs don't like to sit through having their teeth brushed. If breath is an issue, give your dog a Greenie -- those little green bones are my dog's favorite.

You should have a vet clean them every 6 months. In the meantime, about 2 or 3 times a week, brush their teeth. Make sure you use ***** toothpaste as the detergents in ours can poison them. Also, their food, no matter if it's hard or soft, gets down in the gum line. Their gums don't fit snuggly against their teeth like ours do. It can cause an infection and has a direct link to their blood ...causing major problems if this happens. As a Vet Asst. I'm happy to hear that you care about your dog's teeth. That's wonderful!

Make sure the dog has more in their diet but soft canned dog food. If they have the hard dog treats that helps. Once every six months take the dog to the vet to have their teeth cleaned. They may use anesthetic, but it's a healthy thing to do.

how much money do you have?

you are actually supposed to get your dogs teeth cleaned at a vet twice a year, but that can be pretty expensive!

if it isn't BAD. you can buy toothpaste for dogs. brush his/her teeth maybe once a month. also try greenies. they won't really clean your dogs teeth, but they will make it's breath a lot better!!

I give my dogs raw turkey necks about every 2 weeks. They also do not have soft dog food. Their teeth are sparkling.
If your dogs teeth are really bad get Frageria from the net. This is a homeopathic plaque remover and works really well.

You could buy a dog tooth brush, but it's not a daily thing. I'm not pisitive how often you should use it but I think it's about once a month.
