He is 18 weeks old. He is always sneaking in the basement, I don't know what is so interesting down there. I don't think we have mice or anything. The other day I noticed on the one side of his face his wiskers were singed. Also his one eye was half shut and has a yellow discharge. Also on a couple spots on some of his paws looked rotted and scabbed over. I have never saw this before. Especially the paw thing. Otherwise he acts normal. Some people have said maybe he got burned but I don't think he did. What could be wrong with him, especially the paws?

Cats like to explore, they are naturally curious. A dark basement, low light, perfect play zone for a cat.

The burnt whiskers, discharge, paws scabbed....sounds like the curiosity got the best of the cat when he reached the hot water tank front plate. Like the say....curiosity killed the cat.

I would get the cat to the vet as soon as possible to have the eye looked at. Dirt or something could be in there causing an infection and the last thing you want to do is have your cat lose its eye.

Check your basement for any solvents. It sound like that would cause the eye discharge and the singed wiskers. Clorex for starters.Keep the eye clean and it should get better. It may also be something upstairs that the cat gets into. The celler is cool and the fleas are less active. Also it sounds as if your cat maybe allergic to fleas. My cat gets this every year and it is scabby.

It could have been something like the pipes from the hot water heater that aren't insulated right. The scabs sound a little like ringworm, but without seeing them, there's no way I can really make a guess at what it was. Best bet, is as others have already said; and take the kitten to the vet.

Take the cat to the vet and keep an eye on the cat so it don't go down in the basement anymore. There must be something it is getting in to down there. Maybe cleaning supplies like bleach or something even more dangerous .

Singed whiskers means burned whiskers. It could be a thermal burn or a chemical burn. Either one are possible from things that could be in your basement.

Watch his eye and his wounds carefully. If they get any worse or don't get any better very soon, take him to the vet for a checkup.

well he is obviously a kitten from hell....or outer space....he either goes to ur basement to be transpoted to hell (whicj would explain the burn marks) or he is taken back to his planet, Ugratcy, where he is experimented on....cut ur cats insides open to see if he has like tubes inside....if so he is an alien cat....but ya it is either one of those
