I think the religion of Scientology as a belief in engrams, Body Thetans, reincarnation and the intergalatic space lord Xenu to be a little strange. But that is their belief, and they should not be stopped or persecuted in anyway for such.

See what Scientologists believe from these neutral sites, wikipedia:
http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/scientology
http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/xenu

The Xenu one is particularly interesting.

The Cult of. opps sorry I meant the Church of Scientology is, imo, a dangerous vicious cult bent on indoctrinating/brainwashing you to slave you into their organisation while taking all your money.

It harms people, it harms their families, they hound and try to destroy critics, they will take any measure to achieve their aims including illegal ones. They lie to new adherents constantly in order to keep them there. They use 'hard-sell' recruiting tactics, and look for people in trouble as they are more susceptible to them.

Don't take my word for it though, do the research for yourself.

You can learn more about the Cult of Scientology here:
http://www.clambake.org ( same as http://www.xenu.net )

Or for videos go here:

From there is a wealth of information including reports by Governments, Law Courts, Ex-scientologists, Scientific Reviews, Published Books, and much much more.

Here are the court files:

Here is the UK Govt. Investigation, the Foster Report:

Here are whole books written mainly by ex-members, the authors have posted them for anyone to read:

Here is the offical site from the Church for comparison.

Scientologists believe that aliens landed here millions of years ago and that we all have an alien inside of us that we must keep tame yet find our inner selves. And if your family does not believe, you must break off from everyone but those that do believe. If any time you want to leave the church it's like a great escape.

My opinion: a bunch of celebrities all converted simply because it was founded by one of their own, a sci-fi author named L. Ron Hubbard.
