I would only repaint Mona to learn technique, and therefor would seek the same expression as the original. It is the most remarkable combination of signals for both smile and frown, and that's what makes it seem so "alive". Otherwise, to make something of my own, but "quoting", I might paint her as an old, old, woman

It's already been done! Marcel Duchamp did a reproduction of the Mona Lisa in 1919, but added a mustache and goatee!! Duchamp's parody has also sparked interest in other artists such as Salvador Dali who have since also painted their own reproductions! hehe. :-D
