Toronto is a city of many museums, theatres, events and sports. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Canada and the world. This means that there are many cultures which bring along their traditions and music. It is also home to the Canadian National Exhibition one of Canada's largest outdoor fairs.

The two landmark streets to get familiar with are Bloor Street, which runs east/west through the middle of town, and Yonge Street, the longest street in the world, which runs north/south from the harbourfront all the way up to Northern Ontario. The main subway arteries also run along these two streets, so be sure to look at areas falling along one or the other. Determine how close you need to be to work and figure out which neighborhoods fall into that radius.

In the heart of downtown, you can find Chinatown, Little Italy, The Annex, Cabbagetown, and Harbourfront.

Toronto has a great nightlife for singles. So many bars and clubs on queen west, yorkville, adelaide st. etc....

As for areas to live in, depending on how much money you are willing to spend, Queen West Village has a lot of young trendy professionals, Yonge and Eglinton, the Harbourfront, Queen West, Jarvis and Church, Cabbagetown, are all great areas convenient to transit and walking. Good luck with your move!

for you're original question it depends on how you define 'having fun'. for your second question, if you take proximity to amenities, local amenities, cost of living, accommodation and crime rate - i would say north york/willowdale is the best area. the only drawback is that its about an hour's journey on the subway to downtown, which is rather long.
