I'm shy and not gorgeous, so I would avoid first-impression-type places like bars and clubs (unless I wanted to drink or dance and didn't care if I met anyone). If I went to a bar, I wouldn't choose too much of a meat-rack type place, maybe a more mellow place where a ball game was playing or one that had a trivia or bingo night. I would choose an adult ed course in a subject interesting to guys like military history or science fiction. I would also see if there are any co-ed softball teams around.

I would not date someone I met in a bar though...
Chances are, it would be a one nighter.
