hiya. when you are jogging on surface streets and not on a track where you know the precise distance, what is the best way to calculate your distance? my husband is 6'1" and i am 5'2", so we get different results with our pedometer. should we drive the route in our car, or will that also be a different measurement?
thanks for your help.

I usually use the car to measure the distance. The garmin forerunner (http://www.garmin.com) can be a little off and if you live in the city or forrested areas they can't always communicate with the satellite.

I like using http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/. This handy little app allows you to trace your route. I imagine it isn't super accurate, but it's close. I've measured it using that website and then by car and the results are very very close.

Hope that helps.

Hello,
Glad to know your here.
Well, If you use the pedometer, and the results are different, That means the seting for personal stride was wrong.and the weight set, and height set, It was an accurate stride seting. You`d better find a multi-function pedometer, that will be more accurate for the all rusult

I agree to use the pedometer to measure the distance,

Carrie

The pedometer which is easy to operate, The most important that must be an accurate personal stride,

You can try this way in that case.

To pedometer , I well-known about it, And `Cause we made these items,

Goodluck !!

well i always think a car is the easiest way. there is also a satellite mapping thingie somewhere on google that will give you distances by clicking from point to point to point. otherwise, you could get a garmin forerunner that tracks how far you go that isn't like a pedometer, rather, has a built in gps device.
