See you live for yourselves and not for others and your decision is final on you issues concerned.
YOU ARE NOT SPEND THRIFT AND REMEMBER THAT "THRIFT IS A GIFT" SO GOD HAS GIFTED YOU THIS QUALITY OF LIFE AND YOU BE PROUD OF THAT
YOU ARE NOT AT ALL CHEAP. WHAT EVER YOU DO WHAT EVER YOU GAIN ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR STATUESQUE IS CALIBRATED BY CHECKING HOW MUCH CASH BALANCE YOU HAVE IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. AND BE ALWAYS GREAT THE HABIT OF SAVING .THIS WILL HELP YOU ONE DAY OR OTHER IN THE DAYS TO COME IN LIFE .
NOT ONLY I THINK BUT ALSO NOBODY CAN THINK YOU ARE CHEAP.ON THE CONTRARY YOU ARE THE THE BEST.

Hey hapi,

In Australia you would be "a migrant" ha ha ha

My parents were migrants, and since they came with not a thing to their names, they were even more frugal... I have been brough up frugal, and live the same way.

The only thing I would mention is that if you same the pennies day to day, you should be sure to use the money you acumulate wisely. For example, I know people who have hoarded every penny, been stingy and then have been alone, old, in pain and cranky and have killed themselves!

Then there are people like my beautiful mother, who was born in Europe during the second world war, left her home with her mum and dad at the age of 12, arrived here with not even the English language at age 14, and now has a beautiful house, new car, friends, investments and a wonderful retierment! She travels, works for (and gives to) charities, buys presents for her friends and while still living frugally and using the very last bit of toothpaste, enjoys the luxury of flying to Europe in Business (not economy, but not first either!) because the extra money is there to be spent! Not fritted away on things that can be gotten for free, but on things of value!

Long life, good health and great happiness I wish for you and your family!

Appreciate the things that can't be bought, and don't waste the money you have been given!

Nope... If Restaurants offer Free food.. GO FOR IT, if thier are coupons for that food, then GO FOR IT, why carry around cash, everything is like computer stuff now, washing your own car is the best, buying your groceries one week at a time is a good idea because your food wont spoil as much.

yup.. i love how you do it!

If you're not hurting for money and yet constantly saying you are broke, then yes. I think you are cheap. It's more about the state of mind. All the other things you describe are common sense and smart. There is no reason to spend money when you don't need to, but once you say you are broke when you are not, I think that's where you cross the line to cheapness.

hmm...so? I live kind of the same way. Except I don't use the entertainment book, and just go to the dollar movies.

I pay for everything on credit card also...but pay the bills every month, plus get a 1% cash back on purchases on credit card...so I hope I'm not "cheap"? Just living sensibly, and wondering why people pay to take their dogs to a doggy diner. Some people spend more on their pets than I do on my kids!

I wouldn't say cheap. . .I would say thrifty! Just stop saying you are broke as you are not. There is nothing wrong with watching where your dollar goes. Don't be afraid to break loose every now and then though. Everyone needs to splurge every once in awhile.

Nope not at all, you just like to watch what you do with your money. You should treat yourself and the family everyonce in a while though but i dont think you are cheap at all just like to watch where your money goes

Cheap is a poor word to be using to describe your actions. This is because everyone needs to be THRIFTY from time to time. Remember the adage "a penny saved is a penny earned."

No, you're not cheap. Just frugal. Cheap would be rationing toilet paper, buying generic EVERYTHING, reusing paper towels and coffee filters, and drying coffee grounds and using them again.
