This seems to be a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). It means that some hardware that is connected to your computer is not compatible with the driver that is loaded in Windows XP for it. You should try these things in this sequence and see which works out:

(i) reinstall Windows XP from the Windows XP CD
(ii) remove hardware (modem/sound card/lan card) and try to boot
(iii) contact your hardware manufacturer

I hope this helps

The infamous blue screen! That's not good. Have you installed a hardware lately? If so, try starting windows in safe mode, then removing the hardaware you installed. Most of the time this happens because you install an incompatible hardware with the computer you have. The story gets more complicated if it's not a hardware problem. Was the laptop designed for Windows XP? If not, that could also be a reason. If it's toshiba, it's more likely to come with a recovery CD. If things don't work out, you'll have to use the CD to restore your system back to its factory default. Anyway, if you have important data that you can't afford to lose on your hard disk, you can take it out and plug it in another computer as a secondary disk and boot from the working hard disk of the computer. Then you'll have access to your disk just like another disk drive. But it depends on whether the data on the disk is encrypted or not. If it is, windows will not let you into the user folders in the 'Documents and Settings' folder. If you can not access the disk at all, you'll have to reformat it, which by the way makes sure you'll lose all data! My advice, if you come down to the last option of formatting your hard disk, use NTFS file system. Better yet, use the recovery CD that came with the laptop.

i'm no longer optimistic what unplugging/plugging decrease back in will accomplish as suggested previously... yet, as before stated, that's regularly relating to hardware failure. have you ever tried putting out in secure mode?(urgent F8 at the same time as in the technique of restarting) in case you'll get to secure mode, you may remove hardware complications, probably an endemic or a nasty application config is causing the headache. if that's the case you could uninstall the perfect software you install previously your difficulty or run your anti-virus software at this factor. The restoration disks gained't be operating because the boot order isn't set to floppy because the first boot gadget in the BIOS. Have someone verify it in case you do not understand how - you may do a touch damage in case you commence poking round and make a incorrect change. yet- it really is continually more advantageous to envision and troubleshoot those issues and slender down a difficulty previously paying someone to do what you would have finished for free...

If I had to guess it would one of three things. A Virus... hopefully its not a virus.. It could be that your hard drive is fried. and you may just need to run a system reboot for you windows XP. I would say that 7-8 times out of 10 that its the hard drive that's fried. should cost too much to fix maybe around $100-$200
computer problems suck!
