It is a fairly true stereotype though. I make myself invisible if my wife finds it necessary to ask somebody for directions.

its all vice-verse,
women don't answer directly thinking that men are not asking directly, similarly
men don't ask directly thinking that women will not answer directly
its all a minds game and perceptions play a vital role here.
