Some birds, such as nightingales, whipporwills, and owls naturally sing or call in the middle of the night. (Which is why the bird is called a NIGHTingale and we speak of some people as being "night owls"...) Loons call at night and it's a really eerie , spooky sound -- probably the origin of the term "looney." In fact, I've heard the call of a loon used in horror films -- supposed to be something really scarey "in the middle of the night" but since I know what it is, the effect is just silly to me. Here on my farm in Minnesota, I hear loons at night in the summer because they nest in the nearby lake. (They are, by the way, our Minnesota state bird. You can hear loon calls at: http://www.michiganloons.org/vocalizations.htm
Other birds may sing or call at night in an area brightly-lit with street lights, or if it is a full moon, because singing is done more intensely at dawn and is triggered by increased light as the sun rises. My roosters crow during the full moon all the time.
As for singing snakes, there's no such thing. The only sound a snaks can make is a hiss -- or a rattle if it is a rattlesnake. However, some frogs sing -- if you are in Hawaii, Florida, Puerto Rico, or elsewhere in South America, you might hear the Coqui (pronounced KO-KEE) which sings all night in great numbers. (More on this frog, with an audio sample of the call, at: http://welcome.topuertorico.org/coqui.shtml)
Then there are katydids -- a large green grasshopper-like insect that makes a raspy sort of sound of like "katy-did-she-did-she-did." These also sing at night. Lots of other insects also make night sounds.
My advice is to learn to enjoy the song or at least think of it as a normal background sound. If people can sleep through city traffic all night (something that keeps me up when I travel), you can certainly learn to ignore a bird. What keeps you up is more connected to not knowing what the sound is -- our brains are wired to wake us up if there is danger, so any strange sound in the middle of the night is a "red alert" until we identify it.

There are a few species of birds that sing at night, so this is completely plausible. For example, owls and whipporwhills sing at night. I seriously doubt it is a signing snake.

Here in Denmark there's always a whole chorus of birds singing in the middle of the night in the summertime.

It is a very good chance that it is a Mocking Bird. If the bird is gray and it is a little smaller than a Robin then it is a Mocking bird and that is your singer. It is spring time and they tend to sing all night during the mating season.

They sing to attract a mate so your bird might be "in heat" so to say. I've never heard of a snake that sings if I were you I'd ask someone at your local pet shop I'm sure they will be able to help you out

Birds will sing at night, especially if the area is well lit, but it does not have to be. I do not know of any snakes that can sing.
