Mimi something or other asked a question regarding whether we need illegals in this country. Basically saying Americans are hard working and we don't need cheap labor. I went in to answer and it had been pulled by Yahoo. I've seen some pretty awful questions and answers on here but this one was hardly against yahoo’s guidelines.
Why are some questions being censored and some are not?
Does not freedom of speech apply to the internet as well?
Is Yahoo playing big brother but not being fair which questions get the boot? I think I'm done with Yahoo, what do you think?

I think they are monitored haphazardly. Sometimes if you are reported, I understand they just pull it rather than reviewing it, but I don't know for sure.

If you were pulled for that reason, you must have made a compelling argument....

Yes i have had it done to me, but I must admit it was a bit over the top.But I have also had one answer censored and it was a not over the top in any way.The words that I used quote< What the hell> unquote The phrase is in the English language, it has a meaning of Ok what the hell I will do it. It is only an Innocent phrase and yet it was censored.
So ok yahoo why don't you answer the question yourself and put us all in the picture,

Why would you expect freedom of speech to apply to a private companies forum? Its not like the government owns this and Yahoo is under no obligation to let anything it wants too stand. Try posting a threat against someone - it will get deleted quickly and I have no issue with that. And yes; I've had some of my answers deleted; and one question. Its easy to rephrase it and move on.

If you check the guidelines, they don't allow questions that are actually inciting to hate, threaten, or harass. They also don't accept unintelligible posts, explicit or inappropriate language, or even posts that are in the wrong category. I've reported posts for all of these things, and I think it's necessary because this needs to be a civilized forum that people of ALL ages can comfortably use.

Very interesting, I didn't know. Perhaps we should monitor more of these episodes. I hope you're wrong, I would like to think this form is open and only limited to social decorum that is totally offensive and unwarranted. I believe America is still America and God knows some water-down version of a bad movie.

If the person who is running the censor is a Lib, then of course free speech is not correct.

I see it this way, when it gets to the point where the only way a Liberal can win an arguement is to hide the truth, the arguement is won.

I am surprised because on yahoo questions/Answers FRANCE they do not censor anything, I 've read so many bad things, really really bad.
I think freedom of speach is important and must be respected!

Freedom of speech only works if you say what is popular. Never mind someone that has an original idea or opinion.

Those bastards! Dude get over it. If you're done with Yahoo then why are you asking this question. Take your toys and go home if that's how you want to play.

The constitution only protects us from government censorship. Yahoo is not the government, so they can censor all they want. It is their site after all.

Not sure I've had some very tame questions pulled, like the how many points do you have question. No swearing on anything very bizarre.
