Why is it that bigots love religion and spirituality so much?
By the way, don't even start with that, "well you're a bigot stuff" cause I already know I have my moments, the question was why is it that you, as a bigot are always in the catagory.

I'd also like to add, we all have our own inner bigot, it's a part of our minds, something that shuts out what we identify as negative or harmful, but the question is directed at this mind and is not intended to insult bigots. I hope your inner bigots are inspired to speak and proclaim why it is that religion and spirtuality are so dear to you.

apart from the very undeniable actuality that one will be an atheist and nevertheless be religious and/or religious, and that that's an open dialogue board for dialogue about faith and spirituality (which till faith is withdrawn from each component of authorities and society, each and each individual has a vested pastime in) no longer one precise totally for use through theists, the position the f*ck do you get off claiming atheists don't have an open innovations? 'Open-minded. adjective. keen to evaluate new concepts.' OED Does it say 'concurs with people'? Does it say 'would not question'? Does it say 'keen to droop the regulations of physics'? obviously what you need is a dialogue board the position anybody would only agree at the same time with your concepts and also you may want to all be one enormous decrease back-slapping crew of self-congratulatory conformists. i'm optimistic there are a good number of alternative internet sites which cater precisely for your desires.

Because religion supports bigotry.
Think about it, the basic appeal of organized religion is to be better than other people. "We are better than them. They don't know what we know. They don't know God like we do. We will be rewarded in Heaven while we will be rewarded in Hell." It is human nature to want to be right and to look down on other people. The concept of true equality is foreign to religion. Josua slaughtered the Canaanites by the 100s of thousands. Why didn't he care? Why isn't he remembered as the Hitler of the Levant? Because his victims weren't one of us! Need I go on?
The whole concept of religion is separation. To "hate the sin but love the sinner" is still condescending and looking down on someone and is superimposing your ideals on others.
Early polytheists had no problem with other cultures. When Alexander came to Jeruselum, he embraced the Jewish god, added him to his Pantheon and made sacrifices to them (There was a concept in the old world that the local gods were in power in their respective regions.) When he got to India, he did the same. The examples of this abound in the polytheistic world. We don't run into problems until monotheism. Now, there is no room for other gods (or their cultures.) The early christians weren't persecuted because they wer christians, but because (from the perspective of the Romans) they were atheists. They refused to accept the Roman gods even though the Romans happily acknowledged the christian god.
Ironically, this narrow mindedness and intolerance has helped the the spread of montheism. Poly theistic religions tend to get watered down and also don't get rammed down peoples throats. Monotheism however, tortures and kills to get it's point across. Or it goes to 3rd world countries and tells little children that they only get the rice and shoes if they go to bible class. (Is that charity?)
Oh well, I digress.

I "hang out" here, because I want to make sure that people are aware of Jesus. That they know that Jesus died for their sins and that they can enjoy an eternity in Heaven with God.
But I am not a bigot.

Not being rude, but why are you hanging out in the religion and spirituality section? You must hang out in here enough to know what is going on.

maybe they have to prove their religion and faith to themselves by making sure others feel the same lol they can't just believe in it unless other people share their view points. Thats just the way it seems anyways. I hang out here because I think its funny seeing all these arguments going on.

Because religion (particularly monotheism) is an easy way to determine who's "us" and who's "them" and bigots love putting labels on people so they can try putting them down.
