It depends on your health care coverage and the type of medicine your prescribed. With health care providers you pay less if you go with the generic brand of medicine over brand name and most providers only cover generic unless your doctor specifically prescribes brand name for you. The amount you take per day and milligrams that you take is also a factor in pricing. So if you have NO insurance it's always better to go with generic as it is less expensive. Also if your doctor has samples in their office ask if you can get them as sometimes you get a presciption filled and you have a reaction and can't use the rest or that particular medication doesn't work for you and you have to be switched to something else

It depends upon the medication. There are some good ones, older ones, that work just as well but aren't expensive. Expensive ones aren't necessarily the ones that work better.
There are also drug company programs that can help with the cost. I don't know the area you're in, but you can probably find out about drug company programs, now, from the drug company websites. There may be a non-profit that applies for you. Check with the community mental health agency in your area, your NAMI.org or NMHA.org affiliate. Check NAMI.org and NMHA.org websites for information on your local affiliate.

It's retardedly expensive, that's for sure! Insurance usually covers and co-pay varies. But I'm on Effexor and one week work of pills one time without insurance was $75.00. So multiply that a couple of times! Yikes.

you should talk to your doctor about that he would know what kind you need because that depends on how much it would cost. And yes also depending on if you have insurance or not would be a huge factor
