I pour myself a Pepsi here in Mount Pocono, PA and make a toast to the stupid calendar we somehow ended up with with :) Would make the most sense IMO for New Year's day to be on an equinox - preferably Spring. Also to have 4 seasons of 89-93 days (if I recall correctly) instead of 12 months for no particular reason other than it to some extent mimics the lunar cycle (which is much less consistent than the solar). Look in nature and you won't find any good reason for a 7-day week either - look in the Bible of course and you will.
Yeah I know - people need a reason to party ;)

You are going to have a GhostBuster drink; and you will have it at the Gold Range Bar in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada.
Why?
Just because, the Gold Range is an actual tourist destination for alot of Americans when visiting Yellowknife during the summer months. The bar was actually written about in a British newspaper in the 1990's as well. Very popular place.

I would spend it on Bay Street in Nassau, Bahamas jammin' to the infectious rhthyms in the midnight to dawn festival known as Junkanoo. In my hand would be a gin and coconut water sometimes called a Skyjuice. Obviously, gin, coconut water, but add sweet cream, and a hint of nutmeg which is considered the unofficial national drink by many. Whew!
More than a drink and a night... an experience and moment to drift back to in your mind year after year on New Years Eve.

Homemade Irish Cream and Hot Chocolate. Sitting at the base of the tobogan hill- chilled from the freezing sub arctic temperatures the thermos of liquid warmth fills the soul with cheer. This would happen in the Yukon, Canada on any tobogan hill in the Whitehorse City limits. With select friends and family who are crazy enough to come out in the cold. More fun if someone brings their sled and dog team.

The best place to spend New Year's Eve has to be St. John's Newfoundland Canada. This is the most easterly point in North America so we celebrate the new year before anyone else in North America. The drink would have to be a shot of Newfie Screech, our provincial drink .

Zundert, Netherlands (I've never been ) near Amsterdam. This is where van Gogh was born. You should drink absinth which is made from wormwood. It is a very potent drink. van Gogh had cut his ear off while apperently drinking way too much absinth. Back then it was much stonger though. The colour of the liquer is a vibrant green. So it would be something differnt to drink during the evening

Nothing else will do: a caipirinha on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. A couple of million people party the night away under one of the world's most brilliant fireworks displays and dance to some great music.
