I would go to see my kids compete. I have 3 kids ages 14, 12 and 5. I would never miss anything they did. If you don't they may never forgive you, especially if they win the competition. If for no other reason go because you love your kids more than anything or anyone in this world and the years can never be replaced or relived.
Best of luck to you.

This is a wonderful opportunity to watch your children competing at the Open International Ice Skating Institute! The ticket was given with love. Go on that trip and have the time of your life with your children.

May I presume that the International Ice Skating Institute Competition happens to be in the mainland and also conflicts with the travel dates on your ticket? Then you do indeed have a decision to make. Just the fact that you show a hesitance in going to Hawaii tells me that you value your relationship with your daughters above those of yourself.
I think you've already decided what you are going to do. Go watch your daughters compete. It will be so memorable for them to see you watching them, showing your support for them, or just being in the stands. Hawaii will always be where it is; It isn't going anywhere.
Suggestions? Perhaps you can call the airline ticket office and reschedule for a different time. The schedule change penalty you'll pay is miniscule when compared to the lasting impact your presence will have on your daughters for many years to come.
Peace and Aloha

If you can afford the trip, i.e housing, food, immenities, etc. without putting a strain on your budget, I say go. If you can afford to be away from work, I say go. Your children and wife want you to go. But only you know If it will be to much of a financial burden. As a good father I know you would'nt ask the question if there were'nt an issue you're facing. Usually it's financial or work related. Sometimes it's hard trying to do the"right thing". But sometimes you have to know you're limitations. So in other words GO.

That is awesome! I am not sure as to why you are asking this question but, GO! If it is work or some personal issues that is making you unsure then I think you should set all that aside and watch your kids... be a proud dad and enjoy Hawaii.

It sounds to me like you are really trying to put this off. Possibly there are other (important) things keeping you on the mainland.
If it is your job, and you could lose it I can understand your hesitation, but if thats not it, what can't wait till you get back from an amazing island like Hawaii?
Go enjoy yourself with your family and you will be glad you did.,especially if this could be your kids time to shine. Don't be mad at yourself for missing the opportunity to be there.

I don't understand why you're even asking!!! Why would you not want to go and see your kids compete, PLUS why would you not want to go and see Hawaii???? HELLO!!! PLUS if your wife and kids paid for a ticket for you to go, wouldn't they be hurt if you turned it down? Obviously, they want you there too. I say it's a no-brainer!
