They're often way off. The latest example is that Calvin Brock is now listed as the top heavyweight. Why list rankings that are so hard to swallow? Doesn't it take away from BoxRec's reputation?

I agree with the first answer. Ring Magazine has fairly accurate rankings and ESPN's Dan Rafael updates his rankings monthly. BoxRec is the best to find a fighters record, but for the best up to the minute fight news simply go to www.fightnews.com

Yes, their ratings are laughable and a lot of times illogical. They base their ratings on a win/KO formula regardless who the fighter beats. That web site is only good for finding records of fighters and schedule of bouts.
