Even though she is staying with her grandmothe rin Georgia, which is her Dad's mother. She is not use to being around them because they been down south since she was like 3. So she is use to being around me and our mother. We don't want to be spli up because we been through enough. So I just want to know are there laws against it.

The second link will take you to the Indiana Bar Association and if you read way down in the far left column you will find a section pertaining to 'Guardian Qualifications". You are old enough as long as you can meet the remaining criteria.

Usually a court would want to keep siblings together in most cases. You would probably have to prove you could afford to support the both of you and provide adequate housing. You should contact a lawyer and find out exactly what you need to do.
Have you thought about moving to Georgia with your Dad's family also? Things might be a lot easier if you can be with your sister and still have some family support behind you.

You would have to convince a judge to give you guardianship. One positive you have going for you is that you have been living in the same home, so it wouldn't be a huge change. However, you would have to prove that you can care for her and provide her a stable home...more so then her grandmother. Does her grandmother know you would like guardianship? If you can get her on your side, it'd be a lot easier.

Good luck to you. I think its very courageous of you to want to do this for your sister!
