Have you given him special chew toys? Encourage him to chew on those, play with him a bit, praise him when he does chew on his special toys. Nylabone makes good ones, and my dog also loves those knotted ropes. Do you play with your dog a lot? Some dogs chew as they are bored. Here is a website to help further:

How old is your dog? Most puppies chew anything that they can get their teeth on. This is because they are teething. They lose their baby teeth and get their permanent teeth, and this causes them to want to chew. Most dogs will outgrow this once their new teeth come in.
If it is an older dog, he may be bored. I would suggest getting him things that he is allowed to chew, like toys, rawhide bones, pigs ears, etc. You may want to invest in a "Kong". It is a tough, rubber bulb that is hollow inside. There is a hole in it so that you can put a treat on the inside, like some peanut butter, or a piece of chicken. A dog can become fixated on one of these, and it can keep their mouth busy for a long time trying to get the "goodies" out of the rubber bulb.
And be sure that he gets, at least, one good walk every day. This can help to release some of his pent-up energy. That alone, may be enough to stop the chewing.

You have to supply your dog with bones, rawhide and chew toys. You must teach them.If you see the dog doing it,take it away and hand them their bone.repeat over and over.Never give them an old shoe because they will think all shoes are acceptable.
Another reason a dog does this is that he is bored and misses you.I am mentioning this because the items you listed are personal items with your scent. If you leave them home alone, this is what happens. If this is the case then you may need a training crate. This becomes their doggy house indoors. When you are going to be away, put several chew toys in with them. Hope these ideas help.
My boxer ate 3 of my cable remotes and my boyfriends 300.00 glasses before I broke him of that stuff!

My puppy would chew on everything. The garage is his home. He went to the kennel for 3 weeks of trianing and now he mainly chews on those two rubber balls. a house dog thinks everything is a toy until he knows different. get a plastic bottle, fill with water, drill a tiny hole in top. when dog starts to do something you dont want him to , spray him. he will stop. buy him toys. toy toys,

Our dog used to have this problem, whenever you see him chewing something he's not supposed to, get a newspaper and spank him loudly, but not hard. Also tell him bad dog, so he remembers the punishment with the words.
Never give him a chew toy that is something you don't want him to chew at home (like a fake shoe), that tells them they are allowed to bite shoes.
If he chews (bites) on your hands, freeze butter and rub the edges on your hand, then hold it out to him and he will lick off the butter. This teaches him to lick not bite and worked extremely well on my dog.

you most likely should give your dog some chew toys and stuff like that because if your dog is a puppy then he/she is most likely teething i happens almost for every puppy and still most dogs will still chew so some good durable chew toys ..but that bitter apple stuff works and if chew toys don't work the bitter apple thing is pretty good just put it only stuff like that you REALLY don;t want her/him to chew. after i gave my dog chew toys she stopped chewing stuff occasionaly she chews her toys to shreds cause shes an avid chewer but i tent now to get the plastic chew toys and also raw hide bones work really well

Get him some appropriate chew toys. My dogs are crazy over Dental Dinos by Nylabone. they are faintly scented like chicken, and clean the dogs teeth. They last a good long time, too.

My dog use to chew all my pillows and blankets all the time.
it helps alot if you buy him chew toy or bone.

IS HE DOING THIS WHEN YOU ARE GONE? ITS SEPARATION ANXIETY. GET SOME CHEW TOYS AND HAVE A PIC OF YOU AT EYE LEVEL FOR HIM TO LOOK AT WHILE YOU ARE GONE. AND IF YOU HAVE AN ANSWERING MACHINE CALL HOME AND LET HIM HERE YOUR VOICE. AND IF HES DOING IT WHILE YOUR HOME I FOUND USING A WATER GUN AND SQUIRTING IT AT THE ANIMAL MAKES THEM STOP DOING BAD THINGS, ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME.
