And is there anything I can do when I buy it to keep it fresh longer?

A head of lettuce should last about a week in the fridge. A good idea is to buy a hydroponic lettuce with the root ball still attached. Leave the roots on it when you put it in the fridge and it will keep fresh longer. Just pick off leaves when you need them. Another good idea is to put the lettuce in a salad crisper (a plastic sealed bowl with lid) and stick in the produce section of your fridge.

i have been informed person-friendly techniques to save lettuce clean is to get rid of the middle, end piece finished through grabbing it and twisting and pull out, then rinse the lettuce, pat it dry with a paper towel set out for 15 min to enable something else of water drain off and then position in a bowl made to save lettuce Tupperware has one and theres different manufacturers and close tightly launch the air and refrigerate.

Mine doesn't last very long. I tried leaving it in the bag and it turned black quicker. Some people use the crisper (the drawers in the bottom of your fridge)

Put it in the crisper an a paper bag. keeps for about 2 weeks but not more than that.

wrap it in a paper towel put back in bag...stays fresh longer this way.
