Actually this is a good question and most Christians have been taught by well meaning Pastors that there is no difference to God, a sin is a sin. However, this is not so. God has a passion against the sin of Pride since this was the first sin. Lucifer sinned in this manner and was kicked out of heaven. He saw himself in the place of God, since then the Bible refers to sin as leaven. Leaven when added to dough causes the dough to puff up, just as pride puffs up.
Also, there are levels of punishment in Hell. Do you really think that God will punish a really deeply evil person like Hitler the same as someone who just refused Christ but did not commit terrible evil acts. God is just and will punish their evil in a just manner

All sin is not the same. The law given to Moses from God showed different punishment. And God is a being of pure justice.
People like to pick a Scripture here and there to support a cause. But if you read the whole book-time after time different punishments were used by God.
Sin is not the same. It varies in degree. And punishment for it. But it is still sin.

You are confused about sin and the effects of sin. To tell a lie is a sin as much as murder, but the consequences of murder are much worse for everyone. That is why our court system punishes murder more than lying. But with God the offence is the same, namely , you have not kept covenant with your God.

God is a God of reason. He hates all sin and says that if anyone breaks even the least of His commandments they deserve to die.
But it isn't like He isn't intelligent enough to understand that if a person tells what we like to call a "white lie", like if someone asks you if you like the meal they cooked and you tell them "Oh yeah, it was great!" even though you didn't really like it, while another person takes out a gun and murders the person because they didn't like the food, that there is a distinct difference between the two.

ok.....sins are Not equal i Think in the punishment section, each sin will be punished accordingly, says something like number of stripes we will recieve for our sins i forget where thats at.. but all sin is equal in that all is forgivable, murder can be forgiven just as easy as stealing, if you r sincere about it and have faith that it can be forgiven
