Hi,

I don't think there is a cure for this disease but there are several drugs available and coming through the system that may help ease the problems or slow them down.

Assuming you are referring to Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, there are lots of studies and research, but as yet no cure. It is a genetic disorder that generally affects males. There are other illnesses that are lumped in with this and prognosis depends on the illness.
There are numerous support groups and studies. Scientists are learning more all the time, and the future looks better than ever. Do not be discouraged. The fight must continue until the answer is found.

There is no specific treatment to stop or reverse any form of MD. Treatment may include physical therapy, respiratory therapy, speech therapy, orthopedic appliances used for support, and corrective orthopedic surgery. Drug therapy includes corticosteroids to slow muscle degeneration, anticonvulsants to control seizures and some muscle activity, immunosuppressants to delay some damage to dying muscle cells, and antibiotics to fight respiratory infections. Some individuals may benefit from occupational therapy and assistive technology. Some patients may need assisted ventilation to treat respiratory muscle weakness and a pacemaker for cardiac abnormalities.
The prognosis for people with MD varies according to the type and progression of the disorder. Some cases may be mild and progress very slowly over a normal lifespan, while others produce severe muscle weakness, functional disability, and loss of the ability to walk. Some children with MD die in infancy while others live into adulthood with only moderate disability.

There is a lot of information here, http://health.yahoo.com/ency/healthwise/nord37.
Basically, there is no cure because muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder. It results from a mistake in the genetic code of an individual and creates a mutated genome for the person. Since, at this time, there isn't a way for us to manipulate DNA to get it how we want it, there is no cure.

I wonder why people such as D are so cold and heartless. Someone comes on here wondering about a serious disease and you are so ignorant. One can only hope one day you know what it is like first hand. Is that ignorant enough for you? Seriously there is no cure that I know of.
