You need to see a doctor asap.
There are several things that could be happening. You don't want to risk having a tear or the placenta coming loose before the baby is born. It may be nothing serious, but do you really want to take that risk? You will never forgive yourself if you wait and something happens to you or the baby.
Do you have a neighbor that you can leave your 6 year old with? The hospital staff is used to having children around. You don't want to have to explain what happened to the baby if you wait and something bad happens. A trip in an ambulance will be much scarier than a drive in a car.
Good luck, but don't delay!!!

Ok. It is very normal at 37-38 weeks to have a bit of spotting when yo use the bathroom. The fact that it is accompanied with back pain, would tell me that you are probably going to have your baby in the next day or so.
My advice - go to bed and see if you can get some sleep. The spotting is the mucous plug which has been in your cervix coming out as the cervix begins to dilate. This is normal and not dangerous. Usually labor will start in a few hours or days. Back pain is usually the beginning signs, too.
So, alert your backup care for your child that you will be needing them soon, so they can stay in contact. Go lie down and try to rest before it all starts.
And good luck. (I just got home from coaching a birth - it is such an amazing process!)

My advice would be to call and speak with someone at your hospital. They would be able to give you the best advice!
I had some spotting and lower back pain with my second, too. And like you, I was induced with the first one. When I called in the morning at 9, they said just watch it. When the pain was still there at 3 and getting worse, they told me to come in.
More than likely this is the start of your labor, but I would call and talk to the hospital to be sure. Explain your situation to them and they will talk you through it!

I really think you should go to the hospital while you still can. I understand that you don't want to have to drag your 6 year old out in this weather. But if you wait too long, you'll have to drag her out in the weather in an ambulance, which would probably be even more comfortable for her, or both of you. My older sister when she started spotting she started having contractions shortly thereafter. Please go to the hospital so nothing happens to you or your baby. Good luck.

I would....
1) Call your doctor.. I'm sure there is an emergency number that the doctor's office must have.
2) If no emergency number i would go to the hospital
3)Make sure if you don't go to the doc tonight or hospital keep you appt and TELL you doctor.
Good luck hope all is well

Call you Dr! or at least call the hospital, tell them your symptoms. They will let you know if you should come in or not. Then call the father, at least leave a message for him. It may be nothing... but better safe than sorry.
I hope everything is fine.

If you're really worried about it, and its more than just spotting, GO! If you think you'll be ok until tomorrow then stay, and get comfy. Try not to stress yourself over it too much, because that won't help at all.
Try to remain calm, because stress could cause more complications.

First...call your on call doctor. Someone at your doctor's office is on call, and the operator should be able to page him/her for you. Your doctor will tell you what to do. You don't want to take any chances....
If you have had sex recently...that can be a cause. Just a little FYI. Good luck, and call your doc!

It's called the bloody show and it is the first sign that labour is beginning. My guess is that your mucus plug will fall out and then your water will break or contractions will begin.
Good luck!
