It's not neccesarily the food type, but the combination of foods eaten and digested at the same time. Many people think beans cause gas, but very few people eat just plain beans. Because beans take a different amount of time to digest than meat or tomatoes and certainly dairy (which, if you want to look at it from your angle, does cause a lot of flatulence, simply because adult humans are generally ill-disposed to dairy. that's why all people and animals wean after a certain point), when they are eaten together, the body has to move things around and some things get digested and passed into the digestional tract faster or slower than most. This cause gas, instead of excremental waste in an ideal meal where it all gets digested, and expelled, together. If you get gas, it means your body has trouble with that food. Try different combinations of foods, or avoid that item altogether if the problem persists. The problem isn't just a bad smell, but really puts unneeded labor on your body's digestive system.
