The Gospels mention Money and being just to the poor and needy more than any other moral obligation. Sex and sexuality is mentioned few times. Does this mean that tending to the poor is more imprtant than sexual purity?

Nope.

God is a perfect God and Judge. With our imperfect eyes it is very difficult to see this concept.

Some people think some acts are sin and others think that those same acts are not. Well, it doesn't matter what we think--we don't get to vote on it.

Some people don't think homosexuality is a sin. Some people don't think lying is a sin. Some people don't think theft is a sin.

Even John Dillinger saw himself as a simple man, doing only what he could do. Al Capone saw himself as a public servant and man of the people. And I am quite sure that the guys who flew the planes into the World Trade Center were convinced that what they were doing was right.

It's not about what _we_ think is right and wrong, and it's not about what _we_ think is better or worse or not so bad.

It's about what God, the Supreme Judge, has told us.

Some sins are worse than others.

If a mentally challenged person takes something that doesn't belong to him, most likely no sin has occured.

If a person takes food that doesn't belong to him because he is hungry, a venial sin has occured.

If a wealthy person steals money from a poor person, most likely a mortal sin has occured.

The formula for mortal sin:
*gravely serious matter
*knowledge and understanding of the seriousness of the matter before, during, and after the action
*full, free, consent of an unhindered and uninfluenced will

Actually this is a good question and most Christians have been taught by well meaning Pastors that there is no difference to God, a sin is a sin. However, this is not so. God has a passion against the sin of Pride since this was the first sin. Lucifer sinned in this manner and was kicked out of heaven. He saw himself in the place of God, since then the Bible refers to sin as leaven. Leaven when added to dough causes the dough to puff up, just as pride puffs up.
Also, there are levels of punishment in Hell. Do you really think that God will punish a really deeply evil person like Hitler the same as someone who just refused Christ but did not commit terrible evil acts. God is just and will punish their evil in a just manner.

I believe that it is the apostle Paul in the New Testament that commands us to pray for a brother (another Christian) that we see sin. But then he adds, that we are not required to pray for a brother who commits a sin "that leads to death".This certainly implies that some sins are more serious that others. And of course there is Jesus saying that all sins can be forgiven except the "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit".

No-all sins make us equally guilty before God. If we keep the whole law, and offend in one point, we are guilty of all (James 2:10).
There are differering consequences of sin-obviously, murder is punished more severely on earth than telling a lie. But in the eyes of God, the lie is as serious as the murder, it's just a matter of the earthly consequences you will have to bear.

Sin is sin in God's eyes, with the exception of the one unfogiveable sin. Mark 3:29 but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never foregiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

The Catholic church says there are mortal and venal sins. Mortal the worse of the 2. I don't believe someone taking a pen from work can be equated with burning down an orphanage.

Fortunately he forgives you for all if you repent.

a sin is a sin. god didn't say well murder is bad and you will not have everlasting life but lieing is ok, a sin is the same as the next sin,but if your saved and are trying you hardest to resit sin than if you do than you are ok as long as you living by god. repent of that sin just like others, if you walk to close to the edge than you might trip and fall and never get back up.

Sin is sin in the eyes of the Lord. All can be forgiven except 2. Killing your self. The Bible says can not be forgiven. Probley because you are in sin when you die. The other one is in dening the Holy Spirit. To say you do not believe in the Holy Spirit.
