What is all this whining about "it's hard to get a sitter" or "people have no choice"?! I raised 2 kids, by myself, and I did it by NOT going to the movies! I rented it and watched it at home. Entertainment is not something to be enjoyed in public in a vacuum. You owe something to all the others who also paid for a ticket who are also trying to be entertained, NOT listen to your baby gurgle, yell, cry, or whatever. The same goes for taking your too-young-to-be-disciplined child out to a nice restaurant. The choice is there -it's called STAY HOME!!

Some people don't have any respect for other's piece of mind, period. A well-behaved child is such a rarity these days. Polite society is becoming extinct.

Okay just for second I'm going to play devils advocate....there are some folks that just can't afford, don't honestly trust someone with their baby (now days who can blame them) but really need to get out for a couple of hours. New mom has been stuck inside for months now and just wants to spend a few hours outside of the four walls at home and step into the fantasy world of movies.

Okay that's enough understanding for me. Now I'm requesting all babies in movie theaters to be a sound free zone where they coo gurgle to their hearts content but the rest of us don't need to hear it. And while we are it every damn cell phone should be left at the door like the old fashion hat/ coat check in counters. You are given an individual silent devise that will let you know if the phone is ringing so you have to leave the viewing area to go see who's calling!

I feel you on this because the movie going experience is not the best today with kids crying or making noise and cell phones going off. It use to be just a problem with people talking or a person that keeps going to the restroom that’s in your row but now there are too many distractions to actually sit through a movie these days.

I say to hell with the movies because at the rate these DVDs are coming out they will be in the theaters as well as on the store shelf as the movie premieres.

You do have a point but at the same time I think it is wrong for someone to shout "Take the baby outside" which I heard once. The fact was that I had not even noticed the baby whimpering, and that's all it could have been doing, believe me, but I sure did hear his outburst that, in my opinion, was totally uncalled for. For a good five minutes at least my concentration was blown because I was just sitting there thinking how rude and insensitive that creep was, not to mention the relentless thoughts of how mortified I would have been if it were me and how I actually might have felt like punching him if it were my child. So, I think it was actually during that whole experience that I realized that taking a baby to the movies would never be something I would even remotely consider.

Here, Here!!

My husband and I are expecting in Jan, so we are seeing as many movies NOW while we still can! After the baby comes, we'll go now and then when we can get a sitter. If not, then we are staying home! I refuse to be one of those people who brings a crying baby to the cinema.

Wanna ban babies from movies? OK, and to be fair let's also banish cell phones, pagers, tall people in the front, loud groups of teenagers, slobs who throw trash on the floor, and rude adults who talk through the whole thing more than a kid would.

And children are never too young to be disciplined. It's just a matter of their being old enough to understand and listen.

Not all adults have children. But every adult was, at one time, a baby.

Everyone has a right to be entertained but at the same time if kids are gonna be trouble you could wait until someone can watch them for you so that they don't disturb you and 100 other people. Movies are in theaters for three months so you have time to see it alone and there's no cookin' like home cookin' for a growing kid.

That's my opinion.

Thank you!!! I hate it when a good movie is ruined by a screaming baby. I love kids, don't get me wrong, but babies and movie theaters do not mix. Stay at home and wait for the DVD! It's called a sacrifice, and if you don't like that word, you should not have children.

Hey, they weren't thinking when they had the baby, what makes you think they can reason now?
Grow up.
