People are rude, they talk down to you and they tell you that you need to get a better job.Heres the kicker why, if they did that who would serve or cook their burgers. Who would work at walmart, fix your car, sale cell phones, fastfood, or anyother customer service job out there, if those people werent there, how would the rude people get there burgers?

Reme 1 is right on - any time people belittle others it is out of a sense of their own insecurity. I've seen it from people in low-paying jobs (who aren't educated enough to know what common courtesy it) and those in very high paying jobs who think they've earned the right to treat others like s***.

As a wise instructor of mine once said, "Always take the high road - it's lonely up there." Be the better person, and don't sink to their level.

I was working at a restaurant in a tourist based town and I ran into a lot of rude people. What those people don't understand is that we are just like them, sometimes fate is not kind and they don't know the reason why we have taken the job. We could have had our house burnt down or our husband die or any number of reasons and as far as I am concerned no one has the right to treat any one badly just because of some perceived social standard . If a person is making an honest wage doing any job they deserve respect as far as I am concerned unless they are rude -then there are ways to handle that too without going on a rampage. I believe that what we need in this society is more empathy and compassion for each other because we really don't know what the person next to us is going through in there own personnel world!~

Not everyone is rude to those who do "menial" tasks, and I count myself as one of the kind ones for the very reason you bring up. Without people to fill ALL the jobs, society could not function. Besides, in many cases those people are doing a job that I would not want to do but might have to do if they weren't doing it.

Think about that all you rude people... (and there's a lot of you on Yahoo! answers)

I use to work at a gas station and I could tell you hundreds of stories. I think alot of it has to do with the consumer culture and status. I worked in a rich town and the people were scum. But then I worked in a poor area right next to a trailer park and it was completely opposite, everyone was nice and seemed to know each other.

These people does not know important a part is to the whole. I'm sure they don't feel important in their jobs for they look down on you. People who hate bad qualities of others actually have it!

You are so right. I worked at a video store in the pm and taught in the am...I was working one night at the video store and greeted a semi-regular customer when he entered the store. He didn't know that I saw him and said something like, "I didn't know you had eyes in the back of your head." I responded that I was a teacher and of course I had eyes in the back of my head. On his visits that folloewed after that, he always had something kind to say to me. Before he knew that I was a teacher, he barely spoke. I know what you are talking about.

Well, I work in fast food, so I've been wondering that for a while. I think that they think we're stupid, or don't contribute to society. That's obviously ridiculous. They're the ones making the world a nasty place with their unfounded comments.
