I had the same problem as you friend did.

Although I drink too, this girl couldn't go anywhere without involving alcohol. I would setup to go out on some extraordinary dates, such as snow skiing, weekend at Catalina Island, etc. She would eventually anchor herelf in front of a bar no matter what we did.

The worst thing was going to bed with her. If she didn't pass out, she would be a dead lay and usually forgot that we did it. It wasn't worth the effort to take her anywhere, let alone having sex with her.

If your friend's girl has an issue with your friend not drinking, then it's good that your friend isn't with her anymore. Don't play second fiddle to a bottle or a night club in a relationship.

Tell him to move on and don't turn back...

I'm a guy who drinks. All of my male friends also drink. But, very few of our wifes and girlfriends drink and this doesn't bother anyone of us at all. I think it's because this is more "acceptable" socially.

I guess, if a woman drinks and her guy doesn't, that could cause some problems. At least, if he drank, that would provide her with some social reinforcement that it's ok.

Find a guy that drinks. It's not hard.

Yes, this can tend to be a problem as for my relationship goes, my bf does not drink a drop. That is good to a certain point. He can sometimes be a very boring person when everyone else is having fun. So to me he's a big stick in the mud when we are together with our friends. I haven't left him he is a very good provider for me so I guess I'll keep him around.

If he didn't make me stop drinking, i wouldn't stop seeing him. And I wouldn't make him start drinking. Plus, he could always be my DD and he'd always get to take advantage of me when I'm drunk. ;-)
Seems like a win-win situation to me.
