First off I am Baptist. I think that people such as Jack Hyles were great men, and God used them to reach may people. On the other hand I also believe that the ultra conservatives like Jack Hyles need to change their world. I for one don't give what would mount to a hill of beans to someone who believes that every movie ever made is evil. i have watched "Babe" five million times and never once wanted to rob a bank or get drunk. Their narrow minded views turn many off that would other wise listen to some one who shared some common interests. I am a children's and youth minister who could not reach the kids I do unless I know something about the stuff that they are into. Does that mean I get drunk and smoke pot to reach people? No. But telling them everything that that do is pure evil is not going to get you anywhere.

I believe that they should be treated like Independent Baptist Fundamentalists. Anything else would be disingenuous and very insulting to them.
That doesn't mean that you have to agree with them or that you have to disagree with them, only that you have to treat them as what they are. Partially responding to who they say they are and partially responding to who they objectively are.
