A wedding reception is normally attended by all those invited to the wedding. It is held after the ceremony, usually in the evening - though not always. Sometimes the reception is held directly after the ceremony at the location where the ceremony took place, church, hotel or hall. The wedding breakfast is held the morning of the day of the wedding usually for the wedding party, and selected relatives and close friends who have come in from out of town.

They are actually the same thing. Here is the meaning:

Confusingly, the wedding breakfast is usually not a morning meal (breakfast), but is the traditional name for the dinner given to the bride, bridegroom and guests at the wedding reception that follows a wedding in the United Kingdom.
The name apparently arises from the fact that the bride and bridegroom would have been fasting before the wedding, and so the reception would be the time when they would break their fast.

Usually a wedding breakfast is all the family and close friend that have breakfast together before the ceremony and then the reception is later that day. ( the breakfast can be done a day b4 also) It all depends to what the couple decide.. I didn't had a breakfast we just had a reception.

I assume that a Wedding Breakfast is a get together before the wedding ceremony.
A Wedding Reception is a get together prior to the ceremony.

I would think the breakfast would be in the morning of the wedding (or the morning after?) and the reception would be after the wedding?

We just had a small reception after our wedding. I didn't want to plan anything the day(s) following, because I just wanted to relax with my husband.

the reception is the big party (or little party) after the wedding ceremony, the wedding breakfast is the meal you eat with all your friends after the service, I don't know why they still call it breakfast as most weddings take place later in the day.

The wedding breakfast is the meal you have after the wedding. It is called the "Wedding breakfast" as it is the first meal you have as man and wife.
For example at mine we got married at 12pm and had a roast dinner at 4pm (The wedding breakfast) this is were you have the speeches etc.
The wedding reception usually refers to the eveing do. This is were you invite work colleagues and anyone who didn't attend the ceremony and wedding breakfast.

I was in a wedding where the breakfast was the day after the wedding and the couple opened many of their gifts after eating. Nice because you get to see the gifts.
