the answer simply is advertising. with big name products like Coca-Cola and Pepsi even Mountain Dew (pepsi brand) the is advertising up the wazoo for both of them... diet cocacola, pepsi one code red. everytime a new version of coke or pepsi comes out the marketing departments make sure that people know about them. as long as companys dont adverstise for that product people are goin to hear less of it.

nothing is wrong with it, some people don't like coke or pepsi or orange soda. it's preference! sometimes i'll taste a food and be like who in the world would like this but then realize how many people there are and well...enough people must like it if the company still makes it, so...lots of companies make root beer

I like root beer a lot, but it is a bit strong-tasting compared to other sodas. It's an aquired taste, like coffee.

I wasn't aware that a lot of people dislike root beer. I like it, and I know many other folks who like it too. :)
However, that being said, there are some brands of root beer that are much better than other brands!

I love root beer. But, I think a lot of people think that its flavor is bad- sometimes it tastes rather like licorice

I like root beer, but i really like sarsaparilla. Ive heard of mixing a little with milk.

WOW, a very cold A&W there great. Maybe the people that don't like it didn't have it really cold. It does make a difference.

Love it with ice-cream! Vanilla ice-cream, the best. Very nice~!!
If for drink, not really like. Taste not so good.
