Suppose x is the cost of a child's ticket. Then 2x is the cost of an adult's ticket. There were two adult's tickets and three children's tickets, so that's 2(2x) + 3x = 28
4x + 3x = 28
7x = 28
x = 4

So the child's ticket costs $4 and the adult's ticket costs $8

Dang- I hated these questions when I was a kid, riding my dinosaur to school (uphill both ways in the snow) And I still hate 'em now. If anyone answers this for real, please SHOW YOUR WORK! Thanx
