I am mormon and the answer is a resounding YES. My sister was inactive and her husband was baptist, my bishop married them. They hold a license to marry anyone who chooses their services.

Yes, a Mormon Bishop can marry you, in a garden or in the chapel. For a temple wedding both you and your boyfriend would have to be active members of the church.

Are you sure that it is wise to marry an atheist? If you have children, and I hope that you want children, what church will they be raised in? I hope you are not thinking that they will just have to fend for themselves without a religious upbringing. That would be unfair to them. They need the church in their lives. Whether you realize it or not, you need the church in your life. Perhaps you do not think so now. But what if you change your mind? It won't be easy without the support of your husband. Thousands of women will testify to that. You love him, but is that enough?

Don't make the mistake of thinking that you will change your husband once you are married. It happens sometimes, but more often than not it does not happen, to the eternal remorse of the member. Are you sure you want to risk all that? Try to look ahead a very long ways.

Sure. Bishops have the authority to marry anyone; they won't restrict it to active members of the church. Just approach the bishop of the ward where you live.

As far as the garden wedding, I once attended a wedding performed by a bishop in a park, so this is possible.

A Mormon bishop can marry anyone, even if both of them are non-Mormons.

What I'd like to know is if a Mormon bishop could marry two gay people (where it's legal of course).

Probably not. I'm pretty sure in order for a Mormon bishop to marry you, even if it's not in the Temple, you both must be practicing. Also, I'm pretty sure your Temple will not recognize the union. But, it never hurts to ask.

I'm a Mormon, and a Mormon bishop can marry you. Whether he allows it to be done in the chapel is iffy, but I think he would let you do it.

Yes the bishop can marry you. He could marry you even if neither one of you were Mormons.

Of course a bishop will marry you. You don't have to be active for him to perform the service. Just call, or visit a local chapel, and speak to a bishop. Good luck! Oh, and here is a link to find a local chapel: http://mormon.org/question/worship/1,8578,797-1,00.html

He can, if he is willing. I've seen Mormons married to non-Mormons by bishops. But they will advise you against it, of course.
