i would do what your doctor told you to do, yes the surgery is bad...but you could become paralyzed from L4 down, you don't want to mess with your back

DONT get it unless you have to. Some tests that I can tell you from experience.
-If you can walk 1 mile without discomfort then dont get surgery
-If you can lead a normal lifestyle then dont get surgery

heres examples. I had the same problem and Heres how my day went before I got surgery. I would wake up in pain. Go eat. I would have to sit down in a chair since I couldnt stand that long in a shower. Then would go to school and be utterly exhausted by the time I came home. Walking a total distance of about a quarter mile before pain started acting up and prevented walking. If this is you go get surgery and do it fast. Also if you have and bowl/bladder problems it is a sign of cauda equina syndrome. THIS IS SERIOUS. so dont get surgery..it will lead to artharitis later. Another thing to add

If you get the surgery. Go to the best possible place. There is nothing more important than having a very experience surgeon. In my case I learned the hard way. After my initial surgery I found out months later that the doctor had left a sharp piece of bone by accident which caused a dura leak with spinal fluid and yet another surgery. Good luck

Well, there is another solution if it's not too late yet.

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect is, that the pressure on your discs is distributed much better, so the disc will recover.

Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It's really worth travelling far.

Back surgeries mean, that there will be trouble soon in the neighboring discs - so it's a never-ending problem. Keep off from such surgery if ever possible.

I suggest yoga to everyone that has back issues. However, having herniated discs are quite serious.

Try the yoga or some other form of hollistic excercise.

I would truly try to rule everything out before you do surgery.

Good luck . I wish you well.

Have you had any epidurals?
If you're going in Wednesday, it may be a little late to try this...

Remember that one of the keys to coming through surgery well is
to believe that it will help you. I recommend focusing on what
this surgery will help you heal, relaxing and getting ready to be tough through your rehab time.

Set aside a couple of great books for the weeks after surgery,
that helped me a lot.

naprapathy

there was this guy that i worked with that was going to get back surgery & i told him that he should try naprapathy & felt better so he canceled his back surgery.

then there is my brother in law that got back surgery fused verts & he's still messed up. there are nerves there that you just can't mess with. your just never the same

i'd say go with naprapathy & see if you can buy yourself some time. there are advancements being made in replacing disc that are in development now & is expected to be available in the next 5 years.

hope this helps,

ss

there is a procedure where the doctors inject pomegranate juice into the disc to help shrink it. or sonic massage this works with physical therapy. I had back surgery I tried all of these they did not work for me but they do work.
