First you need to realize that dogs do not have a concept of sexuality like people do...you've put entirely too much thought into this...

(K) is by far the most accurate answer. The only reason why everything you say makes sense 2 you is because your thinking of Human behavior not dog behavior. If dogs use human behavior then Peter would not be humping other male dogs unless he was truly a gay dog.. LOL but that is not the case and Peter is probably well respected in the dog world. Another major reason why dogs hump other male dogs more frequently is because they are not neuter and this makes then show there dominance more often.

First of all, there are no "gay" dogs. If your male dog squats to pee it is only because he has no need to raise his leg to pee. The reason why male dogs raise their leg to pee is to mark teritory higher than any rival dogs in the area. Raising the leg makes the urine look as if it came from a larger dog, thus signalling that the dog is high in stature. The "Humping" is a sign of dominace towards other dogs. It signals to the dog being humoed that your dog believe's that he is of higher statue than the dog he is humping. It is not a sign of being "gay".
With the barbie doll. Dogs will pick toys based on the feeling in their mouth. The barbies legs are of rubber and thus pleasing to the dog to chew. It also has hard area's if the dog wants a harder feeling. If you trade the toy with something simular I garentee he will like it just as much as the barbie doll.
As with your cat. It is not suprising that your cat doesn't want anything to do with your dog. Cats and Dogs send mixed signals to each other. Cats raise their tails as a sign of hello, where as dogs raise their tails as a sign of dominace. Cats wiggle their tails as a sign of aggression, where as dogs wag their tails as a sign of friendship. Cats lower their ears as a sign of aggression where as a dog lowers its ears a sign of submission. It is no wonder why cats and dogs don't really understand each other or get along.
Socalizing your dog is very important. Leave your dog to work out the issues with other dogs on his own. Explain to the other dogs owner the real reasons behind his behaviour. If the other owner can not understand than you need to find more understanding dog owners.

It sounds like you just need to accept Peter for who he is. My cat's vet told me that one in four cats are gay, so it's probably the same as dogs. Maybe your cat is just threatened by Peter's sexuality. You should explain to her that all animals are entitled to their own wants and desires, and if Peter wants to lug around a Barbie, that's his business. Try to find other owners with gay pets and perhaps Peter will have an easier time socializing with them. Maybe you could organize a gay pet pride parade. Peter would probably enjoy that. I say, if you love him, then induldge his gayness. Buy him a diamond studded collar! Paint his toenails purple, hook him up with stylish leash or bandana! Good luck, and give Peter a pat for me!

If your really that concerned, look into pet therapy. They do have psychologists for dogs.
My bigeest suggestion is to buy him a gay puppy friend. Something too small for him to mess around with, but he can still play with. I had Great Danes with a mini pin, so I think you could find a suitiable friend for your dog.
Otherwise, just give him as much love and attention as you can. Dogs may be pack animals, but with domestics people are often considered part of the pack.

My puppy scrappy humps everything even humans and he gets pissed if he doesn't hump something, he does not discriminate. Take the barbie away and give him a GI Joe doll, find a female German Shepard and let them be alone, then tell your cat to hide b/c after he gets some punany he is going to kill him.

Dogs hump each other to show dominance not because there gay. Squating to pee could be a sign or arthritis or hip problems. Socialize him more with other dogs and people. B calm and be the pack leader.

Your dog is NOT gay. Dogs mount other dogs in a show of dominance, not sexuality (except to mate). My advise is to not put too much thought into this and to stop being so homophobic.

Heres your problem. You named your dog peter? Also where do you think he learned to be gay from? Dogs do what there master does? So there you go. My advice shoot the darn dog and start over.

Most dogs are bisexual. They don't care. Your dog is probably just secretly giving the other dogs some major grief in doggy language and now he's not allowed to eat at their lunch table.
