It was about the sacrifice of Jesus for the sins of the world. It is not anything that could have been stopped. The night before in the garden Jesus could have stopped it, He could have stopped it at anytime. Thousands of angels were poised to come to His rescue, He chose not to stop it. The sin demands a blood sacrifice, He looked down through the ages at all of us and gave His blood so we would be clean when we come to the Father. If He hadn't, none of us would have made it. None of us. A lot of people don't like talking about the blood, but that is what cleans us. His blood. When we die and come to Him, the Father will be looking at us through His blood. That shows we have been washed clean from all our sins. Not a few sins, not some sins, but ALL of our sins. Even if Judas had not betrayed Christ, it still would have happened. Satan was there manipulating. He thought if he could kill Jesus he would win. But he lost . Thank God

Hints now indicate that Judas was acting on orders of Jesus to go and rat him out to the Romans sent to hunt him down instead of Jesus purportedly stating a prediction of his betrayal.

If this is the acutal account of Biblical events, it'll likely never be known why Jesus chose Judas for this sorrowful act.

What betrayal? It is only a story. If Jesus knew what was going to happen and how he was going to die and all that mumbo-jumbo, then he would have known that Judas was going to do it. So, where is the betrayal?

well, Jesus's teachings were considered radical for His time. so the powers that be got worried that the people would turn on them. they convinced Judas to tell them where Jesus was. they found Him and arrested Him, not for any particular crime, but for just being a troublemaker. they say He spoke against the governor because He said God was above the governor. back then that was treason. so He was executed for inciting civil unrest.
