I do walk occasionally, but the last time I tried working out in a gym I got a lot of muscle cramps and arm strains, so now for excersize I almost exclusively dance. Is this good excersize or do I need to vary myself more?

Dancing is good exercise. For the cramps though, check your vitamin B complex intake, also indicative of low calcium or potassium (search for muscle cramps in Yahoo!Answers for more info).

If the cramps persist despite any increase in your intake of these vitamins - either through the food you eat, or by vitamin supplements, it may be you are having episodes of post exercise low blood sugar.

For basic info on low blood sugar, check out www.hufa.org.
