I have been a dealer for both DIRECTV and Dish Network since they were both originally introduced. I would recommend DIRECTV. I could site several reasons from customer service to programming. My main reason is ownership. DIRECTV is currently owned by Rupert Murdoch. Google him. Dish is owned by Charlie Ergen. Google him. Who do you think is the most likely to remain the #1 Satellite Provider?

I like DirecTV's package better, but I can't remember why. If you have a LOT of TV's, Dish may be cheaper.

Dish has much more HD channels - about 30 right now. DirectTV has much less.
Dish has slightly less customers but is growing faster. 12M vs 15M.
