Buy Braggs apple cider vinegar in a health food store. Gargle with it and let a bit trickle down your throat. Also try slippery elm or horehound drops also available in healthfood store.

Either use just honey, of a type from honey bees close to the area where you live, together with the juice from a fresh lemon. You could use plain old concentrated lemon juice from a bottle too, but not lemonade as it isn't strong enough. Also if you of this persuasion, add a little brandy or whiskey to the brew to get full response from this excellent old home remedy. Why use honey from close to home? Because it will help your immune system cope with your current and future illnesses if you happen to be allergic to the pollen in your immediate area, whereas, honey from afar wouldn't help you as much.

Try using honey in lemonade made from real lemons. You really need to see a doc though to make sure you don't have strep throat. Go to the ER and they will take a culture.
