Well, first off you have to look at what a Christian is.
We believe that GOD sent his only begotten son to earth as a newborn baby boy , that he was battered, bruised and put to death on a cross at calvary, to pay for our multitude of sins.
That he arose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven.
Now, what you are probably referring to is a Christians walk with GOD. A new Christian will be excited about what they have just felt and done and will most likely want to tell everyone around them.
Then enters reality for most.
If the conversion is truely real, they will begin learning with excitement and vigor. They will soon learn that they cannot possibly live up to all that GOD has for us to learn and obey.
They should learn that faith (belief) without works is dead.
THis is where most of us, if not all of us falls so short, and become the type of people you are describing. Works is more easily understood by putting the word "obey" in its place.
If you say faith without obeying GOD, is dead, you kinda get the picture that you need to start actually doing what you read.
I have been known to make some of the statements that you have written. But I also keep in mind that I am the same sinner I always was, just now walking a bit closer to GOD everyday, sometimes with a step back or two. Get back on my walkway and continue on.
I have read the bible , and continue to read it, and will read it until I cannot see or hear anymore. ITs the only way to know how to obey or do GODs work.
I wouldnt call everyone who makes statements about the bible a hypocrite. A hypocrite would be the ones that make the statements without the humility of knowing they are no different than the one they have said it to.
On the other hand, I really do not care if a hypocrite tells me to read the bible, or anyone else for that matter, as long as the message gets out to read the bible.
Love the sinner, hate the sin. This is what the new testament is all about. I know how hard it is to Love the sinner, but I know I am not perfect, so I need to continue to try.
In a nutshell, just the use of any one of those statements does not make one a hypocrite. Use of the statements without the continuing walk within themselves is, and we cannot always see anothers walk with GOD.

There is a lot of confusion when quoting the bible or using the bible as a tool to make a point. are they hypocrits? .. i dont think so, just ill informed.
My problem is with people that are not christians then try to use the bible to point out flaws in christianity.. and how they use it is always 100% wrong. i just read this one statement from a guy who said that the bible teaches intolerance.... oh boy. Althought the uninformed Christian does just about as much damage
Added for Jtuck, you just reminded me of another of those misbeliefs of those that are non christians. the absurd idea that the bible has contradictions from one chapter to the next.. I challenge anyone to give me direct biblical quotes that contradict one another... there is none! unless your talking about something from the old testament to the new.. there may be some resonable contridictions because when jesus came to save us some things DID CHANGE

I'm not sure! I understand what you're saying. Many of the things you have written down here are true, and some of them are surely what I've heard Christians say! lol I don't know why the Lord chose us to spread His Word, we sure are knuckleheads sometimes aren't we?
I know you're right about many Christians not being in the Word, and this is not good, because they say things like you have mentioned there. If they knew the Word, they wouldn't say such things!
I understand what you're saying, I'm not sure if they would be hypocrites, just ignorant, which means not knowing. It would be nice tho, if they didn't know, that they wouldn't say wouldn't it? I'm sure I've said something goofy a time or two, but I really try hard to watch what I say and what I don't say. I've heard it all, just like you, bummer huh!

Most of the statements you listed are true, but not all of them. You are right , most people,Christian and non-christian, tend to learn and quote just small portions of the Bible then apply them to whatever situation suites them. My favorite is the use of the commandment thou shall not kill. A lot of people want to apply this to any situation that involves taking a human and some want to extend it to plants and animals. This not true. This commandment is intended for your normal day to day life. It does not apply to capital punishment or war. there are other scriptures that handle these situations. Yes some are hypacrits and others just haven't studied enough to learn all the facts yet.

Technically, yes. In reality most are just ignorant and confused. They deal with their own imperfections and the impossiblity of ever truly following EVERY rule, by criticizing others who just happen to be either open about their failings or have been caught.
Doing things wrong, or misinterpreting something doesn't make you a hypocrite - criticizing others for doing the same thing is.
Judgemental = hypocrite.

how is Law equal to an abomination exactly? and the homosexuality issue is repeated in the NT as well, are you forgetting that part? its not a law, its an abomination, God hates it. It the sin, the sinner is able to be saved, but we are seperated from God Thru our sins, so he hates what seperates us from Him, the sin. Jesus died on the cross, and the old decrees were nailed to the cross with Him they're all blotted out now. please do yourself a favor and study b4 you try to make a point based on something OTHER than the bible please

The bible is a poorly written book of mythology that contradicts itself with every other chapter.
Christians aren't necessarily hypocrites, they just ignore anything in the bible that contradicts what they want to believe.

I try not to get to involved with hypocritical Christians. At the church I go to, we welcome gays. We don't endorse gay marriage or anything like that, but under the pretense of "love the sinner, hate the sin," they are welcomed. It's our job to catch and reel 'em in. It's God's job to clean them up!
