Do you watch Myth Busters? Well I'm pretty sure they did a thing on that and they proved it to be true. I think. People who were yawned too were more likely to yawn when sitting alone, being bored then someone who wasn't yawned at doing the same work.

yes but not in a germ type way. you yawn due to lack of air and to help u intake more air. people around you will yawn too because they are in the same area as you with the inproper amount of air. so they yawn too to get it.
also its psychological, for example when u think about yawning you do it, other people see you and want to do it too.

Yawning is your body's way of getting oxygen when your oxygen levels are low. Your breathing becomes more shallow when you are tired or inactive.

It is not contagious, but it is suggestive to the person in your presence. When you do it, it reminds them that maybe they too need a little more oxygen right about then and almost unconsciously do the same.
