I swear A LOT. I want to stop, though, because it's not very classy.

Any tips would be great!

PS-

I haven't always had a trash mouth. I listen to a lot of rap and hiphop... and the people I work with curse a lot. Even my mother has a trash mouth. I learned it from her!!! :-)

I have superfluous knowledge of the English language. I just LOOOOVE swearing!

Put a rubber band around your wrist and snap it each time you swear or say something trashy.

You have a couple options. You need to set up a system of what you will do to reprimand yourself. Some people set up a swearing jar. For example, every time you catch yourself saying something you don't think is appropriate, you have to put a set amount of money aside - you could make it a quarter, 50 cents, a dollar, whatever. You can use this money in the end to reward yourself for your accomplishment. You could do something else like putting a rubber band around your wrist and snapping it on yourself when you catch yourself using the language. I think you also could work at having people keep you accountable. Tell your friends and co-workers what you're doing and ask them to call it to your attention when its going on. Another important thing to remember is that you need to keep up this attempt for at least 21 days. Many studies say that it takes that long for a habit to be formed. So, basically, you should try to stick with whatever you decide for 21 days so that you can try to be in a habit of doing (or not doing) the behavior.

There have been a lot of great ideas previously posted. However, I think the easiest way to break yourself of this bad habit is to find other words that are not cuss words to substitute for them. For example: sh*t = shoot, shucks, shenanigans f*ck = fudge, fudrukers, finigian d*mn = darn, dang

There are a lot of ways to stop what you are doing. Once you ween yourself from certain words, you can start to substitute other words if you so choose.

Try to listen insted of talking. Also get educated on better words you can use. Swearing is a sign that you have nothing better you can think of to say.

Get a big jar. Everytime you swear, put a nickel in. Or, pick a new word like darn, and get in the habit of using it frequently.

Just listen to how others sound with a foul mouth. Secretly tape record some conversations, including yourself, and listen.

Also, if you do it in public, apologize at once.

Wear a rubber band on your wrist and snap it hard enough so it hurts every time you swear.

Just make a life choice not to. Make a committment to yourself that you are worth it. BTW- I like it too...it's fun but it doesn't make ya look all that smart. ;) One way I curb it is that I make up funny words to say instead to replace the swear word. Have fun with it.
