Your muscles were used to a certain amount of oxygen from the walking, but running makes the muscles use more oxygen. This quick transition will leave your muscles feeling a little tired at the beginning, but once you start breathing well enough for running and your muscles are warmed up again, you should be better.

Are you just starting this program? If you are, this is totally normal, you feel heavy sluggish, because you are heavy and sluggish! lol I remember being overweight and I too, did a program like this, I thought I'd never felt worse, but it gets better as soon as some of the weight comes off. You won't feel so heavy and sluggish during the walk, you'll actually look forward to the run again. Hang in there!
