I'm having a hard time trying to motivate myself to go to the gym. I'm home from college for the summer, and I also work. When I was lifting weights in highschool, I had friends and coaches to help motivate, but it's so boring to work out alone. Any advice?

The satisfaction of seeing my body changing and improving all the time is the motivating factor that keeps me going to the gym everyday.

Well..I hate exercising and when I had someone to go to the gym with me, I still had a hard time going. Try taking a class, I go to my community college and I take a dance class for fun and I love the class a lot so I actually can go without anybody forcing me and I go on my own. Some gyms have classes from dance class to step aerobics and even if you go by yourself it'll be a lot more motivating because there's a lot of other people around you and you won't feel alone.

Find something that you actually enjoy doing. I like running; it gives me time to think. So I run. If you don't like going to the gym, try playing some tennis or jumping rope for 45 minutes or biking outside. I find it's easier to work out outside because there are other things on which to focus my attention besides equipment. It also really motivates me to run with a friend. Why go through it alone? If I'm feeling lazy, I ask my dad to run with me since he runs long distance; that way, I won't just decide to quit at mile 4 when I'm really not that tired. Good luck!

There must be a place at your gym to post if you want a workout partner, isn't there? I would use that.
Second choice would be to join a class or club at the gym that does whatever you are into (run, lift, swim, box, whatever)
Third...just gut it out. You took care of your body in HS, and were probably pleased w the results. Do the same now....you don't want to be standing in front of the mirror one day soon and say "yuck" and wish you had stuck to a routine!

I am the wrong one to ask. I hate working out. I got a job which requires walking several hours a day so now I do not feel guilty anymore.

well it's the same motovation you have with anyone else, just the drive to get it done, plus it's better alone then you don thave any distractions and just think of the results afterwords anyways!
