In my opinion, people who do such things could be hateful, but then again most people do things like that because they are misunderstood. most people do that because others don't get them, or maybe they are starved for that special attention. Or, maybe they just enjoy doing it because it gives them a boost of confidence. To be honest, you never really know for certain; every situation is different. You just have to decide based on what type of person it is.

more selfish than anything...they usually do what they do in order to get their way about something....which is still a sin...
They see a means to an end to get what they want, regardless of whether it is the right way or wrong way.
