considering the purchase of a cordless electric mower
that charges of off ACcurrent . Would like to buy a small PV panel and charge the batteries directly (DC-DC)_

Yes. Piece of piss. You only use a mower about 1% of the time at most, so even a fairly small solar panel should be able to keep it charged. Just check that the panel's output voltage matches that of the batteries.

You will also need a regulator along with a panel that matches your batt voltage,, so not to over charge the batt
