Get a nice dog or spend time with someone else's...just spend time with them and you will learn not all are bad.

sorry, this is a human-behavior question that has to do with psych; there are very safe & easy ways to work on this, but the easiest is VIRTUAL REALITY phobic desensitization... which is meeting 'virtual dogs', not real ones.
Ur own FEAR will make even a friendly, normal dog =react= to U; U need to 'goof-proof' Urself first, & get past the body-language & reactive signals [holding Ur breath, tightening Ur body, flinching, heart-racing, sweating...] that will ALL make the ->dog nervous.
U are nervous, so they 'catch it' from U.
U need to get calm, without a 'real dog', before U can be safely around a flesh-&-blood dog.
how abt practicing with a NintenDog??
==============
a psychologist is much better at these problems than stray lay-people on-line! :)
hope U get past his, & get to know some WONderFul real dogs, soon...

If you really have a phobia of dogs- you might want to see a psychiatrist or something. But the main thing is to not be afraid. Dogs will sense your fear, There is some good advice here- volunteer at a shelter, go to a pet store and play with some puppies, that is really fun!

Volunteer at an animal shelter. Start by feeding the dogs through the cage then gradually work up to walking them. Ask for assistance if you would feel more comfortable. Start with the small dogs as people tend to feel more comfortable with the smaller ones. good Luck!

let someone hold the dog and you stand a few inches AWAY from the dog for like 30 minutes... and if u r the type that runs away or really gets scared like i saw on tv, let someone hold your hand. you are going to have to face it because dogs are everywhere

when i was little i was bitten by a pit bull wasnt his fault it was mine. but i got over my fear when i met my friend who has a huge rott. I went up and let him sniff my hand i showed him some love. I was suprised that i wasnt scared anymore. Get a puppy and start over and your fear will vanish. Remember most dogs are more scared of you then you are of them.

don't show ANY fear when u are near dogs. they can sense you are scared and they think they can overcome you. just don't show any fear and get close to a really friendly one. and just pet it. it will lick your hands but don't jerk your hand away. just calm down.
