Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
It's in the same chapter as that little line about laying with another man in lust but it doesn't suggest anywhere that either is a greater abomination or sin.So while you dip your shrimp in that yummy garlic sauce you are doing about that same thing as having lustful gay sex.Why not just take that extra step? It's a choice afterall...

Ha ha ahahahahahahahaha, oh man. That was funny. Just what I needed thanks. Christians really hate it when you feed them with their own spoon.

Because eating shrimp was a sin in the dietary Law, which was done away with through Jesus' sacrifice and Jesus told Peter that there was nothing unclean in the NT.

However, homosexualtiy was an abomination on the OT and whatever was an abomination( something that makes God want to vomit) remained so in the NT. It is also spoken against in both Testaments.

This is where abominations clarified as a worse than sin.

This is a great question. The reason is that the law for seafood applies to JEWS. The law for gay sex applies to EVERYONE. The reasons are clear. If one eats the shellfish, only the individual gets sick from any parasites, bacteria, etc. If we allow gay sex to flourish, it will do so at the expense of marriage ( 1 man to 1 woman). If marriage fails in a society, that society will destroy itself. This is a fact of history because tis idea has been tried before with BAD results. If you want an idea of what it looks like, look at a ghetto with unmarried moms having children with their live-ins. Those are the places with high crime, and violence. It's not the penis in the rectum God hates as much as the destruction of family life.

This is a good question, since based on the Greek it seems god is saying it is the same amount of "an abomination in his eyes" to eat shrimp (or meat and cheese!) as it is to engage in homosexual activity.

But don't forget to wash down that shrimp with a tasty glass of pee!

2 Kings 18:27, (repeated for emphasis as Isaiah 36:12!)
Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own urine with you?

The guy with the Garfield avatar speaks of taking things in the Bible to literally. But if it's not meant to be taken literally, how is it supposed to be taken. Are we supposed to spend out lives sorting out all of the metaphors of the Bible? Now, I'm a bisexual, shrimp-eating, athiest... So I'm interested in knowing how are Christians supposed to interpret a Bible that makes no sense to them.

In our quest for truth, the shrimp vs. gay sex debate has been a stumbling block since the beginning of time.

Ewww...I don't eat shrimp. Although, honestly I didn't know the Lord forbade it. I just think they smell like crap. Which kinda reminds me of the gay sex thing now that I think about it...I gotta shut up while I'm ahead.

And you take literally every word in the Bible to be the word of God? I love shrimp and darn right I am straight. I am a literal person, too; but my opinion;with all respect; is that you are taking something way to literal.

Because modern society says its okay to eat shellfish, but not have gay sex. They like to point out the gay sex more than the shellfish thing.

Well actually the commandments of the old testament were thrown off when the age of grace began, and the new testament became our new "rule book" so to speak.
